SHPE IS BACK!

Where we’ve been

Princeton’s SHPE chapter suffered during the pandemic, as did dozens of other organized student groups on campus. But it never died out, largely thanks to the resilient officers and members dedicated to developing community on campus for their fellow Hispanic and Latine peers.

Diminished morale and membership didn’t stop SHPE from organizing. We hosted Rutger’s SHPE chapter in the Spring of 2023, ensured companies like Bloomberg could still share resources with SHPE’s phenomenal members, and created affinity spaces through study breaks and open board meetings. We used the time and space to establish a stronger foundation that will lead SHPE back to being a center for students to grow academically, professionally, and personally by coming together with like minded students.

Where we’re headed

Our current 2023-24 leaderSHPE is ambitious and set out to leave their mark on Princeton. Bypassing traditional barriers is what we do best, encouraging our committee leads to think big. The board will be engaging in a diverse set of fundraising to ensure we send more members to SHPE’s national convention than ever before, develop high-impact projects for students to master individual skills and exercise their ingenuity, and make sure those technical skills are backed up with professional development to excel in their careers. If you want to be a part of this mission and you share our confidence in developing life changing programming for underrepresented and traditionally low-income students here at Princeton, please visit our sponsors page.
